Just processed some prints from the first roll of the new Rollei Pan25, it's quite difficult not to be enthusiastic with this new emulsion. Exceptionally presented in the box shown above, once exposed, loading into reels is very easy due its polyester base which allows smooth handling even in the reduced space of a changing bag.
This film requires a prewashing bath with regular agitation for about one minute at development temperature to dissolve the antihalation layer. I had no times for my usual developer (HC-110) and no Rollei developer at hand, I estimated 4 minutes at 20ºC for solution B. In the end it was short for a difussion enlarger (25% longer would have been better) and the resulting contrast forced me to use hard paper grades [but it was my fault!]. Those prints came out with rich tonality and all the desired characteristics for this type of film - ultra fine grain, excellent definition, tonality and acutance, etc.-.
It's important to be very accurate with times for washing and wetting bath. Do not squeegee it, nor dry it with any kind of heated air. The base is totally clear and it will dry flat and without any water mark if washing and wetting are done correctly.
As the availability of this kind of emulsion reduces those of you looking to replace APX 25 will find that this is a worthy substitute.

Recién procesadas unas copias del primer rollo de la nueva Rollei Pan25 resulta difícil no alabar efusivamente esta película. Inmejorablemente presentada, una vez expuesta las labores de carga se ven facilitadas por una base de poliéster que se deja manejar con total comodidad incluso en el espacio restringido de una bolsa opaca.
Esta película requiere de un baño de agua previo de aproximadamente un minuto para disolver la capa anti-halo, y dado que no disponía de tiempos para mi revelador habitual (HC-110), y tampoco tenía ninguno de Rollei a mano, estimé el tiempo en aproximadamente 4 minutos a 20ºC para la solución B. Resultó ser algo escaso para una ampliadora de difusión (quizás un 25% menos del requerido) y el contraste obtenido obligó a utilizar grados de papel muy duros. No obstante el copiado ha sido rico en tonalidad con todas las características -grano ultrafino, buena definición, tonalidad y acutancia, etc.- que uno espera de este tipo de películas.
Es aconsejable ser muy escrupulosos con el lavado y humectación. No conviene escurrirla ni tampoco conviene secarla con aire caliente. La base es completamente transparente y seca perfectamente sin trazas si la humectación ha sido suficiente.
Con la decreciente oferta de mercado de este tipo de peliculas, y, sobre todo, para los que echaban de menos la APX 25, esta película no les defraudará en absoluto.

Casualidad encontrar estos analisis en Google, muy atractivos para mi que estoy probando las emulsiones de rollei y su fotoquímica.
